The Respiratory Residency provides new graduates education days and a structured clinical experience with a qualified preceptor. Current Georgia RT licensure required by March 18, 2019
. If selected, you would work full time hours (36 to 40 hours) spending time in the classroom, simulation lab and time with a preceptor(s) in the different patient care areas (floors, ICU, ER). There are opportunities for NICU orientation. You are paid for classroom and clinical time. The RRT Residency training period last from 12 - 14 weeks and will begin in March.
Under the direction of the Manager as well Clinical Coordinator and with a preceptor The Respiratory Care Resident is responsible for providing Respiratory Care treatment to patients in the various units in the hospital as assigned. The Respiratory Care Resident assesses assigned patients as well as plans, implements and evaluates care. The Respiratory Care Resident also provides safe and effective care in compliance with the policies and procedures of the Gwinnett Hospital System.
Graduate of an accredited school for Respiratory Therapists eligible to sit for the RRT exams (Selection process to begin prior to graduation for students on track to graduate).
Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or registry eligible (registry eligible status is only recognized for a limited time (see Respiratory Care policy 01-03-11).
Current licensure by the state of Georgia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Meets fit testing standards for NIOSH approved respiratory protection
Georgia Department of Human Resources (GDHR) technologist status
