Telecommunication Specialist will answer emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio calls from the general public and emergency responders including fire, police, and ambulance services, Public Safety agencies and interdepartmental calls from Gwinnett Hospital System. Monitors computer screens, while efficiently gathering, prioritizing, and documenting calls of services. Provides callers with appropriate advice or referral, or initiate police, fire, and/or Emergency Medical Services (EMS). All telecommunication specialist must know how to operate a two-way radio, southern link radios and other sophisticated communications equipment system. Perform related duties as assigned. Receives and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency telephone calls for service. Monitors CCTV and Access Controlled areas and be able to discern suspicious activity and respond accordingly.
Dispatches appropriate Public Safety Officers within the hospital system and call 911 emergency services agencies such as police, fire and emergency services unit. Monitors Public Safety Officers in the field by zone assignment.

Assist the hospital in enforcement of security/safety related regulations. Protects hospital property, patient, visitor and staff, from hazardous conditions and/or criminal activity.
Responsible for daily associate and contractor badging, and access updated.
Requirements: Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required, Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Previous experience in a healthcare public safety environment a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills including use of a personal computer and report writing.
- Must read and write English fluently.
- No felony convictions of any kind or misdemeanor convictions involving drugs, alcohol or crimes against a person (assault, battery, terroristic threats, etc.) history; or driver's violations as defined in company policy.
- Must be able to interact with public in a courteous and/or firm manner when necessary.
- Must be able to perform under stressful situations, achieve work objectives and maintain the hospital's community relations philosophy.
- Must be able to react to multiple alarms sounding and be able to prioritized people to that alarm correctly.
- Must be able to have attention to detail in what is being said and/or heard on the telephone/radio when an emergency or non-emergency call comes in.
