What’s your role at GMC?
I’m the person to call when something needs to be fixed. I do things like replace bulbs and work on beds, TVs and the nurse call system, just to name a few. If I can’t find a solution to the problem myself, I call an outside vendor.
What do you like best about your job?
I’ve always been in this profession – it’s what I do best. I love the fact that I don’t do just one thing all the time, and the big plus is that I really like the associates I work with across the hospital.
What keeps you at GMC?
The camaraderie. I recently went through nearly six months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and my coworkers were there for me every step of the way. Some even donated their time off to help me out and offer some support during a really difficult time in my life.
How is your job rewarding?
Knowing what it’s like to be a patient, I want to do everything I can to make that experience a positive one for other people. I believe that what goes around, comes around, so I’m always willing to do what I can to make a difference for the people we care for.
